:: MATHIEU BERGERON has been passionate about mosaics since visiting Barcelona in 1999. There, he discovered fantastic works covered in mosaics by the Catalan architect, Gaudi. It was love at first sight for this medium of expression. Mathieu attained a Bachelor of Architecture in 2005 and a Diploma in Art History in 1998. Co-founder of l'Atelier Phébus (2003), he exhibits his works at the Salon des métiers d'art du Québec and in various public locations, participates as master mosaicist in several community and school projects, and offers introductory courses in mosaics since 2004. To perfect his knowledge, strengthen his passion, and learn traditional techniques, he followed an intensive course during the winter of 2006 in Ravenna, Italy with renowned mosaic artist Luciana Notturni. Today, he approaches mosaics with curiosity and audacity, combining history and contemporary expression.
